Celebrating The Nature Network Group Resource Center

Today we want to share with you about The Nature Network Group (TNNG), out of which The Nature Network Group Resource Center (TNNGRC) and The Nature Network Group Shelters (TNNGS) came into existence.

TNNG was the idea that took root and it was initiated to provide a safe space for Transgender Persons.

TNNG is about promoting the dignity of a refugee irrespective of status, background, faith, education and orientation.

This is why the original idea which was reformulated to include other refugees whether Straight or not. The Straight persons who have benefitted from the services are known as allies.

Besides serving Transgender Persons, we serve LBGIQQ Persons who have come to Kenya as refugees finding their footing.

A beneficiary must have documents qualifying them to stay in Kenya.

We provide temporary housing until the beneficiary refugees finds their own place.

We prefer to stay with beneficiaries on a very short term basis. The major reason is that when we have beneficiaries on a short term basis, it gives us time to engage in other planned activities. Also, it is a deterrent against habits or practices that may jeopardize the goals and mission of TNNG.

Our beneficiaries are aware that they have to find their own housing after staying with us for a short term.

Those who stay within our shelters are provided training in income generating activities to earn money. They use this money to contribute between 5-10% which goes to utilities, rent, waste removal, sundries and food.

The Resource Center is used as a training venue too. Planned training sessions are held at the venue and many beneficiaries have participated in the events.

Our place has been used as an incubator and fiscal agent for many other CBOs which have turned out to become self-sustaining now.

TNNG has redefined ways in which refugees who go through our hands experience agency, self determination, autonomy and productivity. This is what has made us relevant and a landmark for refugee dignity in Kenya and Africa at large.
