World Malaria Day

The world's poorest and most marginalised people are hardest hit by malaria, and they are also likely to be the most affected by #COVID19 #HealthHeroines #HealthHeroes.

This #WorldMalariaDay we are reminded of the importance of building secure health systems to defend against disease. πŸ₯ #HealthForAll #Unite #HealthHeroines #HealthHeroes.

We are in the middle of a global health crisis. Now more than ever, it's time to call on governments to ensure we have strong health systems in place to protect against existing diseases like malaria and emerging ones like #COVID19, and secure #HealthForAll. πŸ₯🩺 #WorldMalariaDay #endmalaria #Unite #HealthHeroines #HealthHeroes.

This #WorldMalariaDay, we urge leaders to sustain and increase their investments to #endmalaria which prevent almost 100m cases and save nearly 600k lives each year, including the most vulnerable – pregnant women and children 🀰🏿 πŸ‘ΆπŸΎ #ZeroMalariaStartswithMe #Unite #HealthHeroines #HealthHeroes.

#DYK investing to #endmalaria increases the capacity of health workers πŸ‘©πŸΎ⚕️ πŸ‘¨πŸ½⚕️and helps build more resilient health systems πŸ₯? This #WorldMalariaDay we call on global leaders to strengthen our first line of defence against disease #ZeroMalariaStartswithMe #Unite #HealthHeroines #HealthHeroes.

Sustained global investment to #endmalaria prevents almost 100m cases of #malaria and saves nearly 600k lives each year! πŸ™ŒπŸ½ πŸ™Œ We must close the $2bn annual funding gap to reach the most vulnerable people with the life-saving malaria interventions they need. πŸ“ˆ #WorldMalariaDay #Unite #HealthHeroines #HealthHeroes.

We can be the generation to #endmalaria. This #WorldMalariaDay join me to declare #ZeroMalariaStartswithMe πŸ’ͺ πŸ’ͺ and learn more about the global movement 🌍 recognising our power and responsibility to ensure no one dies from a mosquito bite 🦟 #zeromalaria.africa #Unite #HealthHeroines #HealthHeroes.

#DYK more countries than ever are closer to eliminating #malaria? This #WorldMalariaDay we urge global leaders to make targeted investments 🎯 to propel regions like the Americas and countries on the verge of elimination to #endmalaria! #ZeroMalariaStartswithMe #Unite #HealthHeroines #HealthHeroes.

Malaria is an unfair disease that still puts half the world at risk. Pregnant women and children 🀰🏿 πŸ‘ΆπŸΎ in sub-Saharan Africa suffer the most. On #WorldMalariaDay we must take a stand against this deadly disease to create a #ZeroMalaria world in a generation. #ZeroMalariaStartsWithMe #Unite #HealthHeroines #HealthHeroes.

This #WorldMalariaDay ask our world leaders to power innovation πŸ’‘ so we can develop better ways to fight this deadly disease and be the generation to #endmalaria. 🏽 🏿 #ZeroMalariaStartsWithMe #Unite.

World leaders must champion our malaria researchers and scientists πŸ”¬ who every day bring us one step closer to a #ZeroMalaria world. πŸ‘ πŸ‘πŸΌ πŸ‘πŸΏ New tools for prevention, as well as early diagnosis and treatment of malaria can help us fight back. #WorldMalariaDay #ZeroMalariaStartsWithMe #Unite #HealthHeroines #HealthHeroes.

Malaria continues to fight back and steal our futures. 🦟 But this #WorldMalariaDay I’m asking you to take a stand to demand action and investment from our world leaders to #endmalaria once and for all 🏽 🏿 #ZeroMalariaStartsWithMe #Unite #HealthHeroines #HealthHeroes.

It’s unfair that half the world still lives at risk of malaria πŸ’” I won’t allow it to hold us back anymore, we will reach #ZeroMalaria. The future is in our hands, together, let’s #endmalaria. #WorldMalariaDay 🏽 🏿 #HealthHeroines #HealthHeroes.#ZeroMalariaStartsWithMe #Unite.

Zero Malaria Starts with Me is a continent-wide campaign to eliminate malaria. The campaign will spark grassroots movements in which all stakeholders—political leaders, the private sector, communities, and other members of society—commit to the fight against malaria. #Unite #HealthHeroines #HealthHeroes.

Be part of the campaign!

The Insecticide-Treated Mosquito Net Is A Necessary Tool For Communities To Fight Malaria

Why we say that it is a necessary tool is because it saves pregnant mothers and children under five, from mosquito bites.

The mosquito net makes it easier for breast-feeding mothers to secure their babies' health under an insecticide treated mosquito net while they work.
Always use an insecticide treated mosquito net to avoid mosquito bites.

That mosquito which causes malaria can be stopped when we all make up our minds to do something.
Sleep under an insecticide treated mosquito-net!

COVID-19: The good uses of food; The Nature Network Shows Gratefulness and Shares Compassionately

At the Nature Network,
we strive to say thank you to all those who support our initiative.
We are following the COVID-19 restrictions to the letter.

But as a social support organisation this also means to tailor our work to suit the daily needs of our beneficiaries. We have to lobby for support on a daily basis to feed about 100-250 people who reach out to us. Some are bed-ridden, some have chronic illnesses to care for and others are in need of counselling and guidance following traumas.

Our safe space is also a recreation space; a livelihood promotion centre and a home. We are so grateful to all those who provide us with support to reach out to over 170 beneficiaries. Being a mother at the Nature Network is a big responsibility. A responsibility I could not bear alone. If it were not for the entire Nature Network team, I would have been ineffective but I am not. We work as a team and through the smiles, the innovations and compassionate heart we reach out to others. We share the food we get among ourselves and other people. But what is food?

Food is a substance out of which satisfies our hunger,
food is a substance out of which we get nutritious elements,
the nutritious elements boost our immunity,
food gives us energy to do,
food gives us the essence to be,
food is security,
food reassures,
food keeps us at home,
food enables us reach out to others,
food brings people together,
food strengthens bonds,
food is unifies,
Food provides the substance the body uses to make us lively, energised and active.
Food provides substances upon which our immunity is built.
It is this immunity added to proper hygiene that makes our bodies stronger. It makes them withstand germs which if we allowed to attack us, we would be vulnerable to COVID-19, TB, HIV, Malaria and other illnesses. Food makes us continue doing our work effectively.
We dedicate time to reach out to those who are ill,
we provide space for them to heal,
we make our safe space a conducive space for play,
we engage in livelihood projects like poultry,
we are active and creative,
we are grateful to you,
So, you my friend who supports our cause,
please continue to make our life stay stronger.
Thank you so much!

Family Based Therapy Model of Acceptance Integrating COVID-19 Response

What:

We are a Kenya -based Transgender-Led, Refugee social support safe space and we use Family-Based Therapy activities to build a context stimulating of acceptance, healing, agency, autonomy, self-belief, self-determination and self-preservation. We use this model to heal refugees who fled persecution, other forms of persecutions and abuses. We enhance continued humanization of refugees by highlighting opportunities for participation in daily activities of life through planned community activities. We promote and advocate for protection of rights and dignity of refugees irrespective of status, origins and we provide navigation services including accompanying those who have to keep their appointments at health facilities regularly. We promote tiering, linkage and referral services uptake. We have been a landmark facility and a first point of contact for many refugees since 2015. Currently, we are faced with COVID-19 Prevention protocols as laid down by the GoK. This means we have to stay home. This in turn requires that we have everything we need in place. However, we also have to put in mind the situation at our shelter. In order to address the present situation, we have devised action plans to integrate COVID-19 response.

When:

Nature Network was formally launched in 2015 but it was incubated in 2014.

What else we do:

1.    Engage in mobilization activities for refugees to attend or benefit from programmatic activities such as; awareness raising, information raising, planned activities, health education, human rights orientation, skills improvement.

2.    Provide space for dignity-affirmation and self-esteem enhancement among LGBTIQQ refugees.

3.      Engage in livelihood implementation to improve economic and skills development for LGBTIQQ refugees.

The plan:

Vision: Safety for all members

Goal: To leverage action to integrate COVID-19 response

Mission: To continue being the space for safety, security and well-being of all members

Long Term Objective: To ensure that members’ life is protected and productive

Short Term Objective: To ensure that all our activities are geared at safety, security, protection and preservation of life while continuing to engage in other productive activities as follows:
Ø       TB, HIV, Malaria Prevention Integrating COVID-19 (THIMAPIC)

Ø       Protection, Security, Safety and Rights Awareness (PASSRA)
